Agreement on free trade area between Ukraine and EU to be initialed on July 19

Ukraine and the EU have finally completed the technical process of finalizing the text of a section of the association agreement, which concerns the creation of a deep and comprehensive free trade area. The final initialling of the text will take place in Brussels on July 19.
EU Trade Spokesman John Clancy told this to a UKRINFORM correspondent in Brussels.
"The legal review of the EU-Ukraine DCFTA text has been completed. A technical initialling of the text will take place on July 19," he said.
Clancy said that further technical steps, including translation, would be taken in accordance with relevant internal EU procedures.
"The decision to proceed towards signature of the agreement will depend on the political situation in the country," the EU trade spokesman said.
As reported, Ukraine and the EU started talks on the signing of the association agreement in 2007. On December 19, 2011, following the Ukraine-EU summit, the sides announced the completion of the negotiation process on the association agreement, including the creation of a deep and comprehensive free trade area.
On March 30, the sides initialed the political part of the document, as well as the first and last pages of the economic section.
