A slowdown in economic growth was reported in Ukraine in the first half of 2012, but the positive dynamics will be preserved by the end of the year.
Head of the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting Ihor Burakovsky announced this at a press conference on Monday.
"According to the institute's forecast, GDP growth will reach 1.9%. The positive dynamics will be preserved, but a second wave of the accumulation of problems is possible by the end of the year," Burakovsky said.
He said that the factors for a slowdown in economic growth included the state of foreign markets, the lack of investment, the withdrawal of funds from business and public, and the failure to resolve the problems of the investment climate for many years.
Today the state of the economy is characterized by a high element of uncertainty. Many people associate prospects with election results, although they are unlikely to change the trend.
Evidence of a slowdown in economic growth was also low inflation, inactive public demand, and a change in the priorities of demand. The deficit of the trade balance is expanding, which has a devaluation pressure on the hryvnia, Burakovsky said.
