President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych has spoken on development of agro holdings

As of July 5th, 2012 Viktor Yanukovych stated his official position towards Ukrainian Agro Holdings in the official bulletin to Verkhovna Rada. According to the President concentration of land within several large groups of companies prevents development of Ukrainian agriculture. Monopolies created by the largest companies lead to stagnation in the sphere, as mentioned in the official statement. Mr. Yanukovych mentioned that it is the primary role of the government to regulate this sphere, prevent monopolies and ensure competitive market environment.
AgroInvest comment: we assume further regulative measures taken towards Ukrainian agro holdings which will most likely lead to negative consequences not only for the companies themselves, but agricultural sector in general. In the light of the incoming land law reform, we assume additional measures to be taken to prevent growth of land ownership for Ukrainian agro holdings.
