Ukraine exported 22.5 million tons of grain in the 2011/2012 marketing year, which ended on July 1. In particular, the country exported 13.5 million tons of corn, 5.6 million tons of wheat and 2.6 million tons of barley, the press service of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation has reported.

"The unprecedented ending stocks of grain at the end of the season amounting to more than 12 million tons were the result of such a level of exports with a record harvest last year," the confederation said.

At the same time, the largest exporter of Ukrainian grain last year was Nibulon, the company that exported more than 3.5 million tons, or 15.5% of the total volume of grain exports.

In 2011, Ukraine had a record harvest of 56.7 million tons of grain, which was 44.3% more than in 2010. The domestic consumption of grain crops is estimated at 27 million tons per year.
