It was impossible to avoid the 13% electricity price hike, energy expert Ivan Hinovski told FOCUS Radio.
The electricity price rise is an objective process as a result of which the expenses in the energy sector were held back for a long time. He specified that green energy in Bulgaria should go up 16% by 2020.
“If you compare the achievements of the other member states, you will see that Bulgaria is not among the top countries in terms of green energy production increase. In no case can you consider the low as lobbyist, because it fulfills the state’s duties under the directive that has to be followed,” the energy expert said further.
According to him green energy is unfairly accused of being the only source of the power price rise.
He predicted an 11% electricity price hike next year and explained that the directive concerning polluters’ payments comes into force in 2013 and all coal-fired power stations would have to pay fines which would affect power price by nearly 30%.
