In 2011-2012 Ukraine exported 20.3 million tonnes of grain

According to the Interfax-Ukraine agency, since the beginning of the current marketing year, Ukraine has exported 20.3 million tonnes of grain, which is almost twice as large compared to the same period of the previous year. According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, corn exports increased almost 3 times to 13 million tonnes and exports of wheat increased by 51% to five million tonnes. At the same time, exports of barley fell by 2.5% to 2.4 million tonnes. Since the beginning of this year, exports of oilseeds reduced by 5% compared to the same period last year and equalled 2.22 million tonnes. Exports of sunflower amounted to 192 thousand tonnes, while a year earlier this figure was 404.3 thousand tonnes. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine argues that the grain crop in the country in 2012 could reach 47.2 million tonnes, while exports of cereals is likely to be at the level of 22-25 million tonnes.
