Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Switzeland in 1Q of 2012 amounts to $21.5 million

Uzbek-Swiss intergovernmental commission on trade-economic cooperation held its session in Tashkent on June 13.
Representatives of the ministries and state bodies, financial institutions, companies, operating in trade, agriculture, food, industry, tourism, pharmaceutics, and others participated in the session.
During the meeting, the Swiss delegation was familiarized with privatization process, business environment for foreign investors, Navoi free industrial and economic zone and Angren special industrial zone.
The sides also discussed implementation of joint projects, cooperation in tourism, trade and investment, banking-financial sector, etc.
Within the visit, the Swiss delegation paid a visit to several ministries and departments to discuss development of cooperation.
Currently, there are 91 joint ventures in Uzbekistan with Swiss capital, while 29 companies have offices in Uzbekistan. They operate in such areas as machinery, chemistry and food, textile industries, and others.
According to the State Statistics Committee, trade turnover between two states made up $21.5 million in the first quarter of 2012 against $17.6 million in the same period of 2011.
