According to the report issued on Tuesday, Astarta is planning construction of soybean processing plant in Poltava region with total capacity estimated at 700 tons per day. Capital expenditure is stated at USD 35 M of initial investments. Investment funds for the project will be provided by the financial institutions as stated in the report as plant will start its operations in 2013. Project also includes construction of 42 K tons elevator and storage facilities for finished goods. Annual production capacity is up to 160 K tons of high-protein toasted meal, 40 K tons of soybean oil, and 9 K tons of granulated husks. The plant will be more than 60% self-sufficient in soybeans, which are produced by the agricultural enterprises of the group, according to the company’s report.

AgroInvest comment: Growth and diversification of activities are important conditions at this stage for Ukrainian companies as use of economies of scale is considered to be truly beneficial.
