Belarus’ GDP up 3.1% in January-May

Belarus’ GDP reached Br187.4 trillion in January-May 2012, up 3.1% as against the same period in 2011. It is expected that the GDP growth will make up 5-5.5% by the end of the year, BelTA learnt from the National Statistics Committee.
The January-May industrial output went up 7.2% and reached Br265 trillion with the expected growth of 6-7% by the end of 2012. Innovative products accounted for 17.6% of all innovative products shipped (the expected end-of-year target is 13.5%-14.5%).
The overall increase in agricultural output by all economic operators made up 106.1% in January-May 2012 (end-of-year growth is estimated at 104-105%). The total output reached Br25.4 trillion. The agricultural organizations increased their output to 8.3%, which made up Br 23.4 trillion.
Capital investments amounted to Br44.8 trillion in January-May 2012, or 79% as against the same period last year. Altogether 1,674,700 square meters of accommodation was put into service, which is 2.2% less as against the same period last year.
