Land sales will be under government management

Yesterday Evolution Media released a frightening story that the President of Ukraine plans to remove management of land sales from local governments and transfer it to the central government. Quoting a leaked presidential memo the new source also said that a final version of the Law on a Land Market and Law on Cadastre be presented to parliament by the end of January 2011. According to the leaked memo the maximum land holding would be 2000 hectares not 100 as is in the Land Code. Also local sales decisions would be controlled by the Cabinet of Ministers. It remains to be seen whether this is true.
