The past twenty years of independency showed that relations between Kazakhstan and Russia have become the most successful and effective model of cooperation in the post Soviet space, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbaev said during the meeting with his Russian counterpart, the presidential press service told.
"Trade between our countries reached a historically high level and amounted to 25 billion dollars. Our challenge is to bring the volume to 40 billion dollars," Nazarbaev noted.
"We discussed issues of cooperation in economic development, energy, the nuclear industry. We have considered the joint venture for uranium mining. Next year we will work with local partners to build nuclear power plants in Kazakhstan," the Kazakh President added.
In addition, he noted that this year the possibility of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium increased to 67 million tons a year.
