Agro Holding Ukrlandfarming intending to increase its corn crop by 23% in 2012

Agro Holding Ukrlandfarming, the largest in Ukraine, is planning to increase its total corn crop by 23% year-on-year in 2012, to 1.6 MMT, said the company’s owner Oleg Bakhmatyuk.

“We harvested 1.3 MMT (of corn. – I.F.) last year and are planning to do 1.6 MMT in 2012,” he said.
O.Bakhmatyuk specified that the company exports over 50% of the corn, mostly to the Near East countries. Ukrlandfarming plans to export this commodity to China (after the two countries’ phytosanitary requirements are harmonized). According to O.Bakhmatyuk, the company also plans to boost sugar production by 20% to 250 KMT this year. The company’s owner forecasts egg production at over 6 Bl pieces. Apart from its main products, such as corn, sugar and eggs, Ukrlandfarming intends to develop pig and chicken meat production. “We want to extend the product line to include pig and chicken meat production if there is a Chinese partner, because we believe these markets will grow vividly within the coming decade,” he added.

According to the same company, Ukrlandfarming is the largest agro holding in Eurasia.  It cultivates cereals, produces eggs, egg products and sugar, raises cattle, distributes machinery, fertilizers and seeds.

The company’s land bank is over 500 Th k. The company keeps 68,000 head of cattle. The ultimate beneficiary is O.Bakhmatyuk.
