Ukraine exports 20.3 million tons of grain

Ukraine since the start of the current marketing year (MY, July 2011-June 2012) as of June 5, 2012 had exported 20.26 million tonnes of grain, which is almost two times more than over the same period last MY.

According to the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine, in particular, as of June 5 corn exports had grown by 2.8 times, to 12.7 million tonnes, and wheat exports by 51%, to 4.97 million tonnes. At the same time, barley exports had fallen by 2.5%, to 2.4 million tonnes.

According to the ministry, Ukraine over the first five days of June exported 430,000 tonnes of grain, including 290,000 tonnes of maize, 130,000 tonnes of wheat and 6,500 tonnes of barley.

In May Ukraine exported 1.84 million tonnes of grain. In particular, last month Ukraine exported 1.33 million tonnes of corn, 420,000 tonnes of wheat, and 95,600 tonnes of barley.

Oilseeds exports since the start of the current MY as of June 5 had fallen by 5% compared to the same date last MY, to 2.22 million tonnes. Rapeseed exports decreased by 18.6%, to 1.12 million tonnes, while soybean exports rose by 14.5%, to 1.1 million tonnes. Exports of sunflower came to 192,000 tonnes, while the figure last year was 404,300 tonnes.
