Belarus-Russia trade up 27% in January-April

In January-April 2012 Belarus-Russia trade totaled $15.1 billion, 27% up on the same period of last year, representatives of the Embassy of Belarus in Russia told BelTA.

In the period Belarus’ merchandise export to Russia amounted to $5 billion, 16.9 up. The main exports were trucks, agricultural machines, road and construction machines, equipment, food, furniture, household appliances, chemical and light industry products.

Belarus imported $10.1 billion worth of merchandise, 32.6% up. The main imports were Russian mineral raw materials, ferrous and non-ferrous metals and goods made thereof, automobiles, including cars, equipment, consumer goods (refrigerators, TV sets, footwear).

The export surplus was negative for Belarus and amounted to $5.1 billion.

As far as Russian Federation oblasts are concerned, in January-April 2012 the major consumers of Belarusian products were Moscow (19.3% of the total export to Russia), Moscow Oblast (17%), Saint Petersburg (7.2%), Smolensk Oblast, Bryansk Oblast, Kemerovo Oblast, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Rostov Oblast, and the Republic of Tatarstan. Belarus imported Russian products mainly from Tyumen Oblast (38.4% of the total import from Russia), Moscow and the oblast, the Republic of Tatarstan, Saint Petersburg, the Republic of Komi, Perm Krai, Smolensk Oblast, Vologda Oblast, Chelyabinsk Oblast, and the Republic of Bashkortostan.

As far as federal districts are concerned, the top leading buyers were the Central District, Northwestern District, and Privolzhsky District, with their share in the total export to Russia at 77.5%.

The Ural Federal District was the main supplier of mineral resources and energy resources from Russia to Belarus.
