Experts forecast 10% inflation by results of 2011

2011-01-20 17:49:03

Inflation in Ukraine by results of 2011 will make up 10%. This forecast is in the analytical report prepared by JSC Erste Bank analysts.

It is noted that in 2010, inflation according to Ukrainian standards was not high, in particular 9.1%, which is lower than 13.1%, forecasted by the government in early 2010.

According to bank's analysts, such a situation was formed thanks to low prices for energy carriers and foodstuffs. However, prices for foodstuffs have sharply grown at the end of the year and can make a substantial pressure in 2011.

Also, a considerable rise of prices for utility services for the households is expected. Internal prices for gas should grow again by 50%, whereas prices for electric energy can increase threefold.

Analysts note that in 2011, quicker inflation growth rates are forecasted against 2010. Also, according to them, reforms promised by the government in the sphere of labor legislation and the pension system can lead to a growth of uncertainty among the population.

"Incomes will continue growing, however fears of inflation and social reforms will cause worsening of consumer moods during several months over the year," the report says.

According to Erste Bank, in 2011, improvement of consumer moods is expected, at the same time, volatility will be preserved, which is characteristic of 2010.

As UKRINFORM reported, inflation in Ukraine in December 2010 against previous months made up 0.8%, whereas since the start of 2010 (against December 2009) - it is 9.1%.

Inflation index in January-December 2010 against January-December 2009 is 9.4%.
