Minister of Economic Development and Trade Petro Poroshenko sees no threats to stability of the hryvnia, or any atypical fluctuations of the national currency exchange rate against the dollar.

He said this to reporters after the Cabinet meeting on Thursday.

"In the current situation, the stability of the hryvnia is not in danger, and the position on reserves and potential borrowing allows monitoring the situation," Poroshenko assured.

The minister stressed that Ukraine has no hard fixed exchange rate of the hryvnia to the dollar - there is a floating rate that is determined by supply and demand. According to Poroshenko, to date, fluctuation occurs within less than one percent. "We should not now spend gold and forex reserves of the state to immediately extinguish these fluctuations. These are normal fluctuations in principle," he stressed.
