Belarus-Moldova trade up 31.8% in Q1

In Q1 2012 the trade between Belarus and Moldova totaled $83.9 million, up 31.8% over Q1 2011, BelTA learnt from the Embassy of Belarus to Moldova.
In January-March 2012 Belarus exported $66.7 million worth of goods to Moldova, up 42.1% over the same months a year earlier. Moldavian supplies to Belarus grew 3% to $17.2 million.
Belarus’ surplus in Q1 stood at $49.5 million, up 1.6 times from January-March 2011.
Belarus-Moldova trade last year totaled $319.7 million, going up by 28.3% from 2010. Belarusian exports to Moldova grew 46.5% to $242 million, supplies of Moldavian goods to Belarus dwindled by 7.4% to $77.7 million.
According to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Moldova Vyacheslav Osipenko, the assortment of mutual trade is rather wide and comprises more than 500 commodity items. Of them 388 are the items of Belarusian exports to Moldova. Belarusian engineering products: tractors, buses, trucks, road construction equipment are in great demand in Moldova. Moldova imports Belarusian household appliances, timber, fertilizers, pharmaceutical drugs, garment, furniture, ceramics.
Belarus is a traditional consumer of Moldavian agricultural and wine products, industrial goods. Belarus buys Moldavian fresh and canned fruit and vegetables, wines and cognacs, corn, sunflower oil, other products.
