The Latvian economy expanded at a slightly slower pace in the first quarter of 2012, data from the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia showed Thursday.
The gross domestic product grew 1 percent quarter-on-quarter after adjusting to seasonal variations. This followed a 1.1 percent expansion in the fourth quarter of 2011.
Annually, GDP rose at a faster pace of 6.8 percent in the first quarter compared to 5.7 percent increase in the preceding three-month period.
Growth in the industrial as well as trade sectors had a positive impact on the overall output of the economy, the statistical office said.
