Exports of grain from Ukraine in the new agricultural year (July 2012 – June 2013) could reach 20-25 million tonnes, according to Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Minister of Ukraine, Mykola Prysiazhniuk.

"The forecasted grain crop export volumes for the 2012/13 agricultural year are assessed starting from 20-25 million tonnes," he said in an interview with the Uriadovy Kurier newspaper published on April 27, 2012.

He said that supplies of Ukrainian wheat to the foreign markets in the new agricultural year are expected being 6-10 million tonnes, that for corn – 11.5-12.5 million tonnes and barley – 3.7 million tonnes.

The minister also confirmed earlier announced forecast for grain harvest in Ukraine in 2012 – 45-50 million tonnes. He said that ending grain stocks as of July 1, 2012 could be 11 million tonnes.

"Thus, supply of grain next agricultural year could be forecasted within 54-61 million tonnes," he said.

Prysiazhniuk said that since the start of the current agricultural year Ukraine has exported 17.4 million tonnes of grain, including 4.3 million tonnes of wheat (2.4 million tonnes of bread wheat), 2.3 million tonnes of barley and 10.6 million tonnes of corn.
