2012-04-17 18:24:43

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has lowered its forecast for GDP growth in Ukraine in 2012 by 1.8 percentage points, to 3%. The outlook on inflation was also reduced - from 9.1% to 6.7%, according to the IMF's World Economic Outlook for April 2012.

"Increased capital outflows would put pressure on the region's currencies and exacerbate funding pressure for economies with large external financing needs, such as Ukraine," IMF analysts said, adding that "in Ukraine, public finances remain vulnerable to pressures from higher wage, pension, and capital spending.

As reported, Ukraine's state budget for 2012 foresees inflation of 7.9% and GDP growth of 3.9%.

According to the State Statistics Service, in March 2012, inflation in annual terms amounted to 1.9%. According to the latest data from the National Bank of Ukraine, in February 2012, GDP grew by 2% in annual terms.
