Wheat from Julian Anyan's Holme Hill Farm near Market Rasen, Lincolnshire, was one of the first deliveries to arrive at Vivergo's new bioethanol plant near Hull recently.
The plant is scheduled to go into production in late spring, with these early loads being made to test intake procedures and grain handling equipment. At full capacity, Vivergo will use 1.1m tonnes of wheat a year, supplied through Frontier Agriculture's Humber Gold Club.
The flexibility of the contract on quality and moisture was an attraction for Mr Anyan.
To join, farmers must commit to supply a minimum of 120t of wheat through the club, whose benefits include preferential payment terms of 21 days and in some cases seven days, load analysis by text/online, average moisture contracts and crop production carbon scoring.
