According to the manager, the bank targets local projects in countries as Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia and Greece. “I’ll be happy if we invest several hundred million euros in the next few years in various projects in Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia and Greece directly as a bank or supporting our clients,” VTB Capital Chief Executive Officer Atanas Bostandjiev said in an interview in Sofia. “There are good opportunities in the energy, transport, telecommunications and agriculture industries everywhere in the region.” For the first three named countries, the bank targets the privatizations schedulkes intended for the state companies, as, for instance, CFR Marfa in Romania. Atanas Bostandjiev has been appointed CEO, UK and international, at VTB Capital plc, the London-based investment arm of the VTB group, in May last year.
