Azarov sees no objective grounds to downgrade Ukraine's rating

2012-03-19 09:30:42

Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said he is convinced that there are no objective grounds to downgrade Ukraine's rating.

He wrote this on Friday on his page in the Facebook social network, while commenting on the worsening by Standard & Poor's of its outlook on Ukraine's ratings from "stable" to "negative."

"There are no objective grounds to downgrade Ukraine's rating," Azarov said.

He said that there was a budget surplus in January 2012, the ratio of debt to GDP ratio is falling and is at much lower figures than for most European countries, and that Ukraine is stably fulfilling its internal and external obligations. Azarov said that as for uncertainty in work with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Gazprom, there is no ambiguity here - "we have a program on cooperation with the IMF and a current contract with Gazprom, which we are fulfilling."

"Therefore, in my opinion, this assessment is subjective, and, by the way, my view is shared by virtually all heads of government who had to deal with the revision of such estimates," Azarov said.
