Poland. FDI inflows rises to EUR 9.93bn in 2011 from EUR 6.74bn in 2010

The inflow of foreign direct investment to Poland totaled EUR 9.929mn in 2011 vs. EUR 6.736mn a year earlier, according to the data of the National Bank of Poland (NBP).
In December of 2011 alone, the FDI inflow's balance was negative at EUR 131mn vs. positive balance of EUR 527mn a month earlier, it added.
This balance in December comprised: net outflow of funds in the form of debt instruments (EUR 367mn), net outflow of equity capital to Polish direct investment enterprises (EUR 92mn) and positive reinvested earnings (EUR 328mn).
On the other hand, the balance of foreign portfolio investment was positive and amounted to EUR 244mn - non-resident investment in equity securities amounted to EUR 273mn.
This position has been influenced by purchase of Treasury bonds issued for the domestic market (EUR 322mn), the central bank noted.
