Ukrainian economy will grow by 4.6% - forecast

A growth of the gross domestic product (GDP) of Ukraine in 2011 will speed up to 4.6% against the expected dynamics in 2010 at 4.4%, experts of the Institute for Economic Researches and Political Consultations forecast.
"An increase of the real GDP by 4.4% in 2010 is expected and by 4.6% in 2011. However, real GDP will still be lower against 2007 level," the December macroeconomic forecast of the institute reads.
According to the forecast, main factors of the economy growth in 2011 will be a growth of the population's consumption and intensification of investments. "Investments will be related to infrastructure projects within the frames of preparation for EURO 2012, modernization of technologies and the purchase of energy efficient equipment," the document notes.
According to calculations of the institute's analysts, net inflow of direct foreign investments to Ukraine in 2011 can make up USD 7 billion, having increased from USD 4.8 billion in 2010.
As it was reported, Ukraine's GDP in Q3 2010 grew against Q3 2009 by 3.4% in comparable prices of 2007. GDP growth in Q2 amounted to 5.9%, in Q1 - 4.9%. Inflation has slowed down in 2010 to 9.1% from 12.3% in 2009.
