Belarus is currently not ready to give up Ukrainian agricultural products, as it will pose a threat not only to food security in Belarus, but will also have a negative effect on the development of its economy, agricultural market expert Ruslan Shvets has said.

"The prohibition of this group of Ukrainian products (corn, pastries, butter, salt, and oilcake) will significantly undermine the work of many Belarusian companies. In terms of logistics, it's convenient and beneficial for Belarusians that certain products are supplied from Ukraine. Therefore, it's necessary to begin a constructive dialogue, rather than escalate the situation and speculate on it," the expert said.

He said that that an ultimatum delivered by representatives of the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Food of the Belarusian Agricultural Ministry is nothing more than an attempt to defend in a peculiar way the interests of domestic producers.
