Russia's wheat output and exports may decline

2012-03-05 09:44:14

Russia's wheat output and exports may decline in the 2012-2013 marketing year that starts July 1 due to frost hurting winter plantings. Wheat exports have already slowed and are unlikely to exceed more than 20 MMT in the current marketing year because many southern ports are frozen, disrupting shipping, according to Dmitry N. Rylko, general director of the Institute of Agricultural Market Studies. Shipments will likely resume after mid-March, Rylko said. Wheat exports for this marketing year totaled 16.3 MMT as of February 15, according to Rylko.
