3+1 format of cooperation with Customs Union not contrary to plans of economic integration with EU - Kliuyev

Ukraine's cooperation with the Customs Union in the format 3+1 does not contradict the terms of deepening economic integration with the European Union, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Andriy Kliuyev said in Brussels at the round table "Ukraine-EU relations: the road ahead".
"As for relations between Ukraine and the Customs Union, I want to reiterate the intention to develop cooperation with the Customs Union in the format 3+1," Kliuyev said.
He referred to the EU expert opinion that it does not contradict the terms of deepening economic integration in the EU.
Andriy Kliuyev said that there was also much speculation over establishing a free trade zone with CIS countries: it is opposed to a deep and comprehensive free trade area with the EU.
"Ukraine is interested in further liberalization of movement of goods and services in their traditional markets, but the European Union was chosen the priority of economic integration. I must remind that the European Commission has repeatedly stated that the establishment of a free trade zone with the CIS is not contrary to a free trade area between Ukraine and the EU," Andriy Kliuyev said.
