Warsaw Stock Exchange counts on five Ukrainian IPOs until year end

2012-02-24 15:46:25

President of Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) Ludwig Sobolewski forecasts that no less than five Ukrainian companies will place their stocks on this floor in 2012.

As UKRINFORM reports citing the newspaper Delo, WSE leaders count that those will be representatives of three sectors: mining and heating industries, as well as agriculture.

"Five companies - this is the minimum program for us for 2012," Sobolewski has said. According to him, four Ukrainian companies, which planned primary placement of bonds in 2011, postponed this for an indefinite period.

"In September 2011, we held serious negotiations with Galnaftogaz and Agropolis and we would like to see IPOs of those companies in 2012," Sobolewski notes. He did not specify names of other companies, whose stocks he expects to see at the WSE this year.

In 2011, five Ukrainian companies went to the Warsaw Stock Exchange: Industrial Milk Company, KSG Agro, WESTA ISIC, Ovostar Union and Coal Energy S.A. Therefore, now stocks of 11 Ukrainian companies are quoted in Warsaw.

Earlier, the National Security and Stock Market Commission informed about the plans to be a competitor to Warsaw Stock Exchange as to the number of IPOs.

As Commission member Oleh Mozgovoi said, the National Commission is planning this year to hold the first IPO of the Ukrainian company on the local stock exchange.

"Today, we want to strengthen presence on of issuers, joint stock companies, public companies at the exchange, and thus to try to re-orientate our issuers to IPOs on the territory of Ukraine," he noted. Today, mainly placement (of Ukrainian companies - Ed.) is held at Warsaw Stock Exchange, in London, there are also guidelines for South-East. Therefore, we set a task to attract issuers for placement at Ukrainian exchanges through disclosure of information, publicity of companies and strengthening of exchange activities."

To remind, the National Security and Stock Market Commission is engaged in holding IPO in Ukraine since 2010. Relevant innovation was laid down in the Program on the Stock Market Development for 2011-2015.
