EU Commissioner Olli Rehn presented the European Commission’s interim economic forecast that turned out to controvert data presented by Brussels days ago, placing Bulgaria among 12 EU states threatened by macroeconomic imbalance, BNR reports. Even though the economic growth forecast for Bulgaria was revised down to 1.4% in 2012, the report notes that Bulgaria would not suffer another recession, its financial sector was stable, the gradual recovery of consumption would continue, while the labour market would stabilise. Mr Rehn explained that imbalances in Bulgaria were being corrected lately, but it was yet unknown whether this was done in a convincing manner.
