Azarov Forecasting Ukraine Will Emerge From Crisis Before August

2011-01-06 11:01:16

Prime Minister Mykola Azarov is forecasting that Ukraine will emerge from the current crisis before August, when the twentieth anniversary of the country's independence will be commemorated.

Azarov was speaking at the opening of a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.

"I see Ukraine finally overcoming the crisis - both in the economy and the public consciousness - by August on condition that we mobilize our efforts," Azarov said.

According to him, the new year 2011 is remarkable primarily because it is the year in which Ukraine will mark the twentieth anniversary of its independence, and the state in which the country arrives at this date will depend on a properly formulated goal and tasks as well as on the accuracy of determination of the directions and stages of movement.

Azarov said that the government was setting itself large-scale tasks and that the independence anniversary would be commemorated fittingly if these tasks were implemented.

Azarov noted that new versions of the Budget Code, the Tax Code, and the law on the judicial system and the status of judges came into effect on January 1.

According to Azarov, 2011 opens a new chapter in the life of the country: the chapter of deep transformations and modernization.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Cabinet of Ministers held its first meeting of 2011 on January 5.

The Cabinet of Ministers recently said that it was planning to reach the pre-crisis GDP level in 2011.
