Freight turnover up in Ukraine

All means of transport in Ukraine carried 649.6 million tons of cargo in 2011, which is a 9.2% increase on the 2010 freight turnover.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure Borys Kolesnikov told a press conference on the results of the industry operation in 2011 that during the year Ukrainian air carriers transported 100 thousand tons of cargo, which is 4,8% more than in 2010.
In general, 21 domestic airlines transported goods.
In addition, efficient use of rolling stock and improvement of the economic situation in this country made it possible to increase the volume of freight carriage by rail.
In 2011, all kinds of transport carried 468 million tons of cargo (in 2010 - 433 million tons). The Vice Prime Minister noted that, by the types of cargo, most transportations involved coal, iron and manganese ores, construction materials, ferrous metals, oil and oil products, chemicals and fertilizers, grain and grain products.
Road transport in January-December 2011 carried 178 million tons of cargo, which is 20 million tons more than in 2010.
