Belarus is not ready to switch to the Russian ruble yet, Chairperson of the Board of the National Bank of Belarus Nadezhda Yermakova told reporters on 30 January, BelTA has learnt.

Talking about the introduction of the single currency of Russia and Belarus, Nadezhda Yermakova said, “The environment in Belarus is not ripe now to switch to the single currency, to the Russian ruble in particular.”

She noted that Belarus should resolve some domestic problems first before it starts working on the introduction of the single currency. “I hope we will have the single currency one day,” she said.
