Indian companies are interested in acquiring a share package of the Belarus company “Belaruskali”, said Indian Ambassador to Belarus at the press-conference in Minsk, January 24.

Indian companies have shown interest in buying  a share package of the “Belaruskali” but at the moment, according to the Ambassador Manoj Kumar Bharti, it’s too early to say which share package of the company will be sold.

The Ambassador added: “We will have the answer after concluding talks, and it will depend on the amount the Belarus government will be ready to offer.”

According to the diplomat, India has already expressed its willingness and its interest, and now it’s for the Belarus government to act.

Last October, according to the information of the State Committee for Administration of State Property head Gerorgy Kuznetsov, the Indian government proposed to buy 20% of the “Belaruskali” shares for $6-7 billion. Previously, Russia also demonstrated interest in the “Belaruskali” shares, with a Russian businessman and the main shareholder of the Russian company “Uralkali” Suleiman Kerimov willing to acquire the controlling share of the “Belaruskali”.
