Microsoft founder Bill Gates said, his next target is to revolutionize farming while calling for more investment into new research in agriculture to fight hunger.

In his fourth annual letter, which was published online on Wednesday, Gates stressed the world needs to repeat the “Green Revolution” of the 1960s and 1970s, when new farming technologies, including new seed varieties of rice, wheat, and corn, boosted the amount of food available and decreased prices.

''If you don't fund the agricultural system, then you leave these billion that wake up everyday wondering if they're going to get enough food, and don't get enough food to fully develop their physical and mental potential, and that stays, stays where it is.''

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation the worlds largest charitable foundation with a 36 billion dollar endowment has primarily focused on public health.
