Uzbekistan’s GDP grows by 8.3% in 2011

In 2011, the Uzbek government predicted GDP growth at 8.3%, industrial output at 9.3%, and agricultural products at 5.8%. Uzbekistan’s 2011 GDP grew by 8.3% compared to 2010, Uzbek President Islam Karimov reported at a government meeting. He noted that industrial output increased by 6% and production volumes in agriculture by 6.5%. The state budget was executed with a surplus. Inflation did not exceed the estimated figure. The share of small businesses in the country’s GDP rose to 54% in 2011.
