Ukraine. National Bank estimates GDP growth at 4.2% in 4Q11

GDP growth in Ukraine in the fourth quarter of 2011 slowed to 4.2% from 6.6% in the third quarter, according to the website of the National Bank of Ukraine.
"Despite the slowdown in GDP growth in annual terms in the fourth quarter compared with the third quarter (4.2% compared to 6.6%), GDP growth for 2011 remained at a high enough level (according to NBU estimates - about 5%)," according to the report of the National Bank's department for economic analysis and forecasting.
The National Bank noted that, under the influence of the restriction of foreign demand in December production volume declined in export-oriented industries - metallurgy (4.7% in annual terms), chemical and petrochemical industries (1.1%).
Earlier, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said that Ukraine's real GDP growth in 2011 accelerated to 5.2% from 4.2% in 2010.
