Ukraine asks World Bank to extend project on land cadastre

The World Bank should extend the operation of a project for issuing land state acts and the development of a cadastre system in Ukraine by the end of 2012, said project director Serhiy Kubakh.
"If the effect the project ends July 30, 2012, as assumed, there are risks that the work will not be completed, and the results, achieved over the years (since 2004), will be lost," Kubakh said, reads a statement by the project implementation unit.
The report also notes that Ukraine has asked the World Bank to extend the project.
According to the project implementation unit, so far, in particular, as part of project implementation, the development of a modern cartographic database of the State Land Cadastre has almost completed, but the creation of the index cadastral maps of territories is held back by the unmarked border areas of particular regions.
A reminder that USD 45 million of a World Bank loan has been spent for the project, according to market participants, with USD 23 million from the budget already allocated to pay off debt.
