Ukraine. Deficit of foreign trade with CIS countries exceeds USD 10 billion

The deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade with CIS countries in the first 11 months of 2011 amounted to USD 10.183 billion, the State Statistics Service has reported.

In January-November 2011, exports of goods to CIS countries grew by 40.9%, to USD 23.724 billion, whereas imports rose by 42.5%, to USD 33.906 billion.

Traditionally, Russia remained Ukraine's largest trade partner among CIS countries. The deficit of Ukraine's trade in goods with Russia over this period amounted to USD 8.598 billion. Exports to Russia grew by 48.7%, to USD 18.038 billion, and imports rose by 34.8%, to USD 26.635 billion. A total of 67.7% of goods imported from Russia in January-November 2011 accounted for gas, oil and petroleum products.

Exports to Azerbaijan over the period under review grew by 15.4%, whereas imports shrank by 27.8%. Exports to Belarus rose by 4.8%, and imports grew by 64.8%. Exports to Kazakhstan grew by 44 7%, while imports increased by 126.8%. Exports to Moldova rose by 21.9%, and imports grew by 78.2%.

As reported, the deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade in goods in the first 11 months of 2011 was USD 12.764 billion, while the foreign trade deficit grew by 59%.
