Belarus’ surplus in trade with EU at $6.3bn in January-November

Belarus had a surplus of $6.316 billion in trade with the countries of the European Union (27 states) in January-November 2011, spokeswoman for the National Statistics Committee of Belarus Yelena Kondratenko told BelTA when commenting on the January-November 2011 foreign trade.

In January-November the trade of Belarus with the EU countries totaled $21.812 billion, up 67.6% over the same period 2010. Exports reached $14.064 billion and increased almost 2.2 times (217.6%), import made up $7.748 billion (118.3%). For comparison: in January-November 2010, exports to the EU were down 78.4% as against 2009. Imports went up by 13.6% from the same period.

The trade with non-CIS countries in January-November 2011 also increased and amounted to $34.721 billion (up 54.8%). Exports to foreign countries reached $18.688 billion (188.1%), import - $16.033 billion (128.3%). Belarus had a surplus of $2.655 billion.

In January-November Belarus’ trade with the countries of the Customs Union (Kazakhstan, Russia) went up by 38.2% to $35.622 billion. Exports surged by 38.5% to $13.113 billion, imports by 38.1% to $22.509 billion. Belarus had a deficit of $9.396 billion in trade with the Customs Union.

In January-November 2011, Belarus’ trade with the CIS amounted to $43.091 billion (141.5%). Export made up $17.822 billion (144%), imports - $25.269 billion (139.7%). Belarus had a deficit of $7.447 billion in trade with the CIS member states.

According to the National Statistics Committee, the foreign trade for January-November 2011 amounted to $77.8 billion. Export reached $36.5 billion, imports $41.3 billion. The cost value of export increased by 63.7% or by $14.2 billion as compared with January-November 2010 in current prices, that of imports by 35% or $10.7 billion.

In January-November 2011 Belarus posted trade deficit of $4.792 billion. In January-November 2010 trade deficit was over $8.283 million.

In January-November Belarus traded will 196 countries. Goods were sold to 153 countries and imported from 182 states. Belarus’ main traders were – Russia – 44.9% of the total trade turnover, the Netherlands – 7.4%, Ukraine – 7.2%, Germany – 5.1%, Latvia – 3.8%, China – 3.2%, Poland – 2.9%, Brazil – 2%, Italy – 1.7%, Venezuela – 1.6%.

Belarus’ main exports were oil products (30.8%), potash fertilizers (8.4%), dairy products (4.3%), tractors (3.5%), trucks – (3.3%).

Imports included crude oil (20.9%), natural gas (11.7%), oil products (7.2%), cars (6%), ferrous metals and products made of it (5.7%), medications (0.9%).
