National Bank of Ukraine predicts inflation in 2012 at 7%

2012-01-03 16:36:23

Forecasts for Ukraine's economic development in 2012 are complicated by the tense situation in Europe, uncertainty about the price of imported gas and the related budget structure, according to a macroeconomic outlook of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) for December 2011.

If the current monetary policy is retained and if there are no significant external shocks, then, according to the NBU, consumer inflation in 2012 will be about 7%, and economic growth will reach 3-4%.

"In 2013, if the world economy gets stabilized, the reduction in consumer inflation (to about 6%) is expected to continue and the pace of economic growth is to reach the potential level (of 4-5%)," according to the outlook.
