Customs Union members to respond together to external economic pressure

2011-12-20 11:49:26

Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia have determined the way of action to take concerted trade and economic policy measures to respond to external economic pressure on a Customs Union member state. The decision was made at the meeting of the three heads of state in Moscow on 19 December, BelTA has learned.

The governments of the three countries will be able to hold consultations to detect and assess the negative economic effect for each Customs Union member state and will be able to work out joint response measures if necessary.

In March 2011 the Belarusian side raised the matter of using coordinated trade and economic policy measures in response to economic pressure exerted on a member state. The relevant draft document was approved by the session of the EurAsEC Interstate Council (the supreme body of the Customs Union) held at the level of heads of government on 19 October 2011.
