Ukraine. Foreign trade deficit grows by 65% in ten months, to USD 11.4 b

The deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade in goods in the first ten months of 2011 totaled USD 11.372 billion (USD 6.878 billion in the same period in 2010).

Thus, the foreign trade deficit grew by 65%, according to the State Statistics Service.

Foreign trade operations were conducted with partners from 217 countries around the world.

Exports of goods to CIS countries accounted for 38.6% of the total volume of exports, Europe - 27.7% (including the EU - 27%), Asia - 25.2%, Africa - 4.3%, and America - 4%.

The largest export supplies were conducted to Russia - 29.4%, Turkey - 5.5%, Italy - 4.7%, Poland - 4.1%, India and China - 3.1%, and Belarus - 2.9%.

Ukraine mainly exported ferrous metals and products from them - 31.8% (+30.8%), mineral products - 15.1% (+54%), mechanical and electrical machinery - 9.8% (+19.9%), products of the chemical industry - 7.8% (+58.7%), ground transportation vehicles, aircraft, and vessels - 7.3% (+61%), vegetable products - 7.1% (+29.8%), fats and oils of animal or vegetable origin - 4.9% (+43%).

Imports from CIS countries accounted for 45.6% of the total volume of imports, Europe - 32.5% (including from EU countries - 30.9%), Asia - 15.6%, America - 4.8%, Africa - 1.2%, Australia and Oceania - 0.2%.

The largest import supplies were made from Russia - 36.1%, Germany - 8.3%, China - 7.5%, Belarus - 4.9%, Poland - 3.9%, the United States - 3.1%, and Italy - 2.3%.
