At the meeting this week in Brussels, the topic of discussion among top European finance officials was how to save their common currency. The embattled euro has had its troubles this summer, especially with Greece’s big debt crisis. The nation has already received a couple of bailouts and is about to receive another to the tune of almost $11 billion. Natalya Zaslavskaya, Associate Professor with the Faculty of the International Relations at the St. Petersburg University, believes this is only a temporary measure to save Greek economy for the time being. Greece has only recently begun deep economic reforms, as the new Greek government is seeking to solve the problem of fiscal imbalances and big budget deficit.
