Ukrainian Prime Minister supports idea of creating grain pool with Russia, Kazakhstan

2011-11-24 14:43:03

Prime Minister Mykola Azarov suggested Kazakhstan returning to the idea of a tripartite Black Sea grain pool, involving Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Russia. He said this in Astana, where he is on an official visit, according to the correspondent of UKRINFORM.

Azarov is convinced this association is vital, given that the three countries account for 20% of world exports.

According to him, in the case of creating this pool, exactly exporting countries, rather than grain traders, will influence pricing policy in the grain market.

The Prime Minister also said that he considered promising the cooperation between Ukraine and Kazakhstan, and is in favor of advisability of preparing the Action Plan for 2012-2013.

Azarov is convinced such relations between Ukraine and the Republic of Kazakhstan will make it possible to minimize the risks that exist in global financial markets.

As reported, last week, Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Prysiazhniuk said that the discussion of establishment of a grain pool of Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Russia had been suspended.

"This issue has been suspended," he said, adding that in the near future the three countries may discuss the issue of concerted action on foreign grain markets.
