Poland. Gov't plans new tax also on crude oil and natural gas

Apart from the plans to levy new taxes on copper silver and shale gas production, the government wants to post additional revenue from the crude oil and natural gas industry.
EconMin's spokeswoman Magdalena Brzoza has told the Polish Press Agency that the ministry plans to regulate the taxing of hydrocarbons in a separate document. As for shale gas tax, it will be introduced once the extraction of this unconventional natural gas begins, she added.
Poland is the country with Europe's biggest deposits of this unconventional gas (with US estimates putting its deposits at around 5.3tr cu.m.). The Polish environment ministry has issued over 100 shale gas exploration licenses for 20 entities.
