Israel's Haifa Chemicals Corporation is ready to invest $100 million in the creation of a new Belarusian mineral fertilizers production, in particular, potassium nitrate. This was stated by president of the company Nadav Shachar at a meeting with Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Miasnikovich on November 21.

"Two variants of its (project) implementation are currently under consideration - to exercise a wholly-owned investment, or to create a joint venture with one of the Belarusian companies," said the head of Haifa Chemicals.

The annual turnover of the new production is expected to reach about $100 million. "We offer technology and would like to apply them to the Belarusian natural resources, create new high-tech product - fertilizers, which could be successfully exported," stressed the President.

In turn, Mikhail Miasnikovich said that it’s not easy to implement the project, although being promising. According to him, the organization of new production requires, above all, solving the problem with the nitric acid production, since Grodno Azot is still unable to provide its sufficient production.

"We have already started the construction of additional facilities. There is a project, in fact. If we agree, we must decide on capacity development, the production of ammonia and nitric acid, and simultaneously address the question of using hydrochloric acid, formed in result of new production," said the Belarusian Prime Minister.
